Being a lifestyle newborn photographer in Pittsburgh, as well as a studio photographer, I love going to my clients’ homes. And so I was super excited to be able to visit this little family’s home for their newborn session!
I had met these two the previous year for business portraits, and they were so friendly and fun to work with! Because of this, I just knew their in-home newborn session was going to be awesome. It ended up being even better than expected, especially because their adorable dog, Maeby, cooperated for a few pictures :).
I usually like to start in the parents’ bedroom. It’s best to have minimal items lying around so the focus centers on the faces, and this couple’s room was perfectly setup. I love a white bedspread and lots of natural window light! Then I like to head to the nursery in order to get some of baby in crib or bassinet. Parent poses here can also be very sweet! Lastly, I like to use another area of the house, like the living room, if there is a lot of light coming through.
I always tell my clients who are hoping for an in-home newborn session a few different things to help them decide. Here are a few things to consider: having white or neutral walls and ceilings, lots of open space and natural light, and a few different areas that could be options. If you’re unsure, just reach out and we can talk about the best setting for you.
Enjoy!
