I am so excited that you are interested in choosing me to document your new little one! Getting to be a part of your newborn's first weeks is a huge deal to me. I love showing my artistic side by styling scenes so your newborn is captured forever. But I also love the snuggles! I am very hands-on with helping to feed or getting them to sleep. It's ALWAYS a good day when I get to hold a baby, and I appreciate my clients trusting me with something so small and important.

I started concentrating my photography more so on weddings and newborns about three years ago. Hundreds of newborns later, and I'm still loving it. Getting to meet new clients and their little ones has been very rewarding. I love growing with a family by helping them capture the memories of the most important parts of their life, and I hope to provide this for you, too.

If you're like me, you want as much information available when you're searching for something like a photographer. And if you're not, then I'm only an email away!

Take your time reading through the information and thinking about what collection might best suit your needs. And when you're ready, you can inquire through the site or email me directly:

Below you'll find a couple different location options depending on what may work better for you.

Are you close to the Bridgeville area? Don't want to worry about making sure your home is in order after the baby arrives? Want full access to wraps, props and scenes? Then the studio will work best for you.

Do you have a home with awesome natural light? Do you want to showcase the newborn's nursery or a favorite room in your house? Then one of the at-home collections will be what you're looking for.

You're ready to book! Now what?

Once you've made a decision on using Katie Louise Photography for your newborn session, I'll send out a contract to be signed online, as well as an online invoice with the deposit amount. The deposit will hold a spot on the calendar and is non-refundable. The amount of the deposit goes toward the overall collection cost.

After booking, you'll want to start thinking about colors, themes and props you would like to use. If you're not sure at all and would like to give me artistic freedom, that works, too! I'll give you advice on what to wear and how to coordinate.

If you need anything super specific that I may not already have, I will need to know that information well in advance to prepare.

Pets are allowed as long as the breed, size, and training are discussed ahead of time. A parent or additional person must be able to take the pet back home once we finish pictures with them.

Preparing for your session

I always start with family, parent and sibling poses first, whether at the studio or your home. This way you can relax for the remainder of the session.

Sessions typically finish in under 2 hours. However, sometimes we need to extend another hour if the baby needs a feeding or has trouble falling asleep.

*At this time, only immediate family is permitted at the studio due to limited space and concern for social distancing. If grandparents would like to be in pictures, a separate session must be booked or a timeline must be arranged so there are no more than two adults in the studio space at one time.

During the session

Light edits will be delivered via a link through email 2-3 business days following your session. Next, you'll create a favorites list of the digitals you would like to keep that are included with your collection. After favorites are selected, I'll send an updated link to your final images within 2 weeks.

Print Credits:
You will need to place an order through the gallery using your print credit within 30 days of receiving your final images. I offer studio hours if you would like to come back to choose favorites with me and to guide you through your print order, especially if you are  interested in adding on a gallery design or album.

I'm happy to offer my clients the convenience of turning their images into keepsakes right in their gallery. I use only the best printing company to fulfill your order because I want your prints and products to be top-quality and last a lifetime. From beautiful gallery wrap canvases to framed art prints, you're just a few clicks away from decorating your home with memories.

With the growth of online shops, shopping for your littles is more fun than ever! I recommend choosing color families (neutrals, blues, etc.) over perfectly matching outfits. If you're looking for some inspiration or some of my favorite shops for kids don't hesitate to reach out!

For the littles

When picking outfits I recommend keeping in mind the word “complement” rather than “match.” For example, if Dad is wearing a blue and pink pastel plaid shirt, Mom may want to choose a long, soft blue dress. It can also be a great idea to choose “color-families,” such as pastels or jewel tones.

Clients usually reach out during their second trimester in order to snag a spot on the calendar and give us plenty of time to prep for an awesome session

For a portrait session, usually a month is adequate enough time to reserve a date. However, if you are hoping for a prime fall day in late October, that must be booked well in advance. Once a mini date and booking link is posted on Facebook, these also fill up within 48 hours.

It's natural to feel awkward in front of the camera. I much prefer to be on the picture-taking side of the camera myself, but don't worry!
I'll tell you exactly how I want you posed and give you little instructions along the way. I tend to be hands-on and am always fixing fly-aways or collars sticking up.
I've had countless experiences with kids, and most of them will not only cooperate, but give me big smiles, too. Most of the time, they just need a little extra instruction to give the cutest poses with the new baby sibling.

We're Awkward and my kids don't sit still.

If the forecast for the week of your session is calling for poor weather, I'll be in touch via email or phone to reschedule. We live in Pittsburgh, though, and the weather can change from one day to the next. Because of this, I always like to wait until 24-48 hours before the session to see if it will change in our favor.

We can always switch to the studio for a backup if it suits the session type.

WHAT IF IT RAINS for my session?

You'll receive a password to enter when receiving the light edits, and when final images are ready, you'll also receive a personal download pin.

The gallery is set up to make ordering prints, canvases and other keepsakes super easy. Simply click the cart icon for each image you'd like to purchase a product of, select the size of the print or product you'd like and add to cart!

You can also schedule a free studio appointment with me to help you choose your favorites and order your prints and products.
